If every society, every RWA and every bulk waste generator in the city starts composting their wet waste, the problem could be resolved, the experts said. Experts suggest that the solution to the rising mountain of waste at Bandhwari lies in compliance of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) rules, 2016. The firm has also cited space constraints for the treatment of waste. We finally got the clearance in December 2019, but couldn’t start the work because of the pandemic,” said Sanjay Sharma, deputy CEO of Ecogreen. However, we were told to process the waste after setting up a plant, but we did not receive any environmental clearance. Another company was appointed to process the waste two years later. ![]() It was in 2013 that a massive fire had broken out at Bandhwari, following which the MCG had terminated the contract of the firm in October 2014.
